However, what do you do if your favorite game has gotten scratched up over the years? Do you want to go out and buy another copy of it?
Oh wait, Gamestop doesn’t have that game anymore? What are you going to do? Have you considered Torrents?
Wait, what are torrents? In short, it is a small table of contents file called a “torrent” and you use it with a “torrent client” program. From here, it will download the required files from other people online who are sharing the file for the online community. Unfortunately, this article is not meant to be about torrents but rather show the user how to take a PS2 game that they got from a torrent, extract it from the Winrar files, and burn the ISO file using Nero. If you are unfamiliar with torrents, please read our excellent guides below first and then come back here: Assumptions (makes it easier for the rest of the tutorial) 1) You have some kind of RAR file extractor.

That way when u extract up until u get an ISO file, it will look different. To do this, simply open up WinRar, on the Menu bar(file,command,tools,favorites,Options,Help),select Options-settings, then integration(usually last top-right after security) here you will find on the left hand side files assocaited with Winrar, simply uncheck the ISO option and press OK. Thanks it, from here on, winrar will pretend not to know what an ISO file is, but will still extract it if asked to.LOL 3) Your PS2 is modded via swap magic, modchip, or perhaps an exploited memory card. Learn how to extract the game to get the ISO file, and then burn it for PS2 use. Go to your favorite torrent site, and using your torrent program (I use utorrent) download a PS2 game. If you reside in the United States, make sure you download the NTSC version. If you get a PAL game, it will not work on your TV because it will flicker due to the refresh rate of the TV. NTSC games have 60 Hz refresh rate, but PAL games have 50 Hz refresh rate.
Once again, we do not support piracy. Only download games that you legally own! Most often than not, the PS2 game you download will comprise of multiple rar files. Select the first rar file, right click and extract it. If not, then you may have just one rar file, which will be your.ISO file. An.ISO file is just a CD/DVD image of the game. Sometimes the file you download from a torrent may be an.ISO file itself, and WinRar will recognize it as a possible archive.
If that is the case, you do not need to extract it. Watch as your file extracts. In the end, you will have your.ISO file extracted.
This is what it should look like when the files are extracted: Note: I always get questions about this. If you just have an.ISO file and no.MDS file, that is OK. All we care about is the.ISO file. If you have a.NRG,.MDF,.BIN with.CUE file or other, that is OK.
Nero and other similar programs can burn these files too! Once your game is extracted, you should have an.ISO file. Now open up Nero. Go to “Image, Project, Copy” and select the “Disc Image or Saved Project”. Remember to insert a blank DVD+R or DVD-R. It is recommended that DVD-R is used because of better compatibility with PS2 laser, but I have DVD+R work fine so it shouldn’t be an issue.
In the next screen, select your.ISO file and click Open. On the next screen, select the drop down box on the left hand side, and pick your DVD burning speed. For PS2 games, it is best to burn at half the max rated speed of your disc.
For instance, if your blank DVD can write at a max speed of 16x, burn at 8x. After selecting your DVD speed, burn the image. Depending on what speed you chose, you could wait up to 15 minutes. After a while, it will say your disc is done! Afterwards, label the disc with a marker, and using your favorite PS2 modding method (swap magic, HDA loader, modchip, memory card exploit), you can play your game on the PS2. Video tutorial Below! To be uploaded later. Hey dude, i used nero 7 also, did the same way u’ve done, with 3 games: bboy the game, PES 2010 and Gundam rengou vs zaft. Out of these 3 only the PES worked.
The 2 other games only can load the memory card option(the scene b4 the intro of game) and then the game will hang and never load. My disc max speed is 16x (On the Disc cover they wrote there 16x so i assume it is) as my Nero7 did not show wad’s my disc maximum speed, so i burned @ 8x on all disc, so wad speed should i use for the 2 other games? @ Chris no, you are not correct!! First of all, you should never use DVD-RW for playing PS2 games. It gives unnecessary stress to your lens and they are extremely incompatible. But it is advised that people should test, whether the.iso file is corrupt or not with the DVD-RW. And if it burned successfully, then u erase that DVD-RW and write the same.iso file to a DVD-R or a DVD+R media and then play it on the PS2.

I expect the.iso file to be 2GB+ tho anyways it must work if u burned it on a DVD-R or a DVD+R. @ ice okay, noob question. So I downloaded a bin and cue file of a ps2 game “Marvel Vs Capcom 2”.
The site where I downloaded it said it’s a cd-r game so I tried burning it on a cd-r but didn’t work — put it on my modded ps2 slim unit and it only got as far as the ps2 logo screen then it went black. Then I tried burning it on a dvd-r and placed it on my ps2 and this time it said “this disc cannot be played”. It’s really confusing and I would appreciate it if you would help.
I have created an ISO file from the bin file with the use of the trial version of Magic Iso and burned the contents (i assumed the files inside the ISO are the actual game files). So file names are on the cd-r that I burned: MODULES (folder) PS2 (folder) FONT8.tm2 (file) SLUS204.86 (file) SYSTEM.cnf (file) I used MagicISO to burn these files, when it didn’t work I tried burning it with Nero express as a data disc. So I am lacking something or am I using the wrong program or method? Is there a missing file or a boot file that needs to be included?
Thanks in advance for the patience =p. Ice will help out as I will help you out as well. I have this game for the PS2 and I believe you have to convert the CD ISO for use for a DVD-R ISO. Not tonight, but maybe what I can do sometime this week is rip my game and put it online somewhere discreetly for you to d/l. It should be a small rip, less than 200MB hopefully. So if you take your original bin and cue file, and burn it to DVD-R, the PS2 doesn’t like it. Using CD-R, the PS2 still doesn’t like it.

It is clearly wrong to burn the game as a data disc using Nero. Never do this. The PS2 will not read things correctly if you burn it as a data disc. I hate to see people wasting DVDs like this. We will help you, just give us time.

I’m back because I screwed up. I know my ps2 is modded (bought from HK) but for some reason when I burned Marvel VS Capcom 2 and Megaman X8 all I get is the black screen after the ps2 logo. Burned it with IMGBURN @ x4 Used SONY DVD-R. I thought of something less moronic before I went here. I realized my Action Replay Max 7.1 recognizes games so I popped my ARM and then replaced it with MegaMan x8. But to no avail the cheat menu didn’t appear which should have since they have it in the directory of codes. So my theory is my burned game is (yet again) not recognized as a ps2 game.
