Armor Sets bestow extra bonuses to your character when all parts (chest, legs, robe, head, hands, etc.) are worn simultaneously. Remember that gold (part of a set) armor pieces are part of a set, and need the other parts to make them work effectively. For repair costs, they are as expensive as purple (unique) armor to maintain, so you may want to use Repair Kits, or sell them before they break.
